Employees of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) Plc at its headquarters yesterday took the first position in the Quiz Competition organized by the company as part of the activities to mark the Customer Service Week this year.
While addressing staff during the flag-off ceremony of the Customer Service Week in the company’s Headquarters, the MD/CEO of PHED, Dr Benson Uwheru noted that Customer Service is the life-line of every business and for every staff of PHED, customer service is a business philosophy because we live for and by our customers’ satisfaction.
He was quoted as saying, “Our customers are the reason we are in business and our commitment towards the success of their business correlates positively with our own success and the growth of our country Nigeria. According to him, this year’s customer service celebration is a call to become more to our customers.
The company wide quiz competition featured five out of its six regional offices, including Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Akwa Ibom, Calabar and the headquarters staff.
The programme which was anchored by the company’s Customer Service Manager, Adanma Ogwuegbu, drew questions from the regulatory arm of the power sector, PHED Core Values and acronyms associated with electricity business.
The Quiz competition had representatives picking numbers to which questions were read out and answers provided within 10 seconds or same forfeited as bonus to any region who answered the question correctly.
The competition became intense and exciting when at the first round, the HQ representatives could not clearly answer the question on who is a customer, earning them only half the mark, while other regions answered to their questions correctly.
However, the HQ representatives became very incisive when they cut the chase with several correct bonus answers, leading them to victory with a 17.5 points against Calabar and Gamma Regions on a tie of 15 points to win the second position.
Meanwhile, Beta region scored 12 points to earn the 3rd position, Akwa Ibom region took the 4th position with 10 points and Alpha region came last with only 2.5points.
Representing the team from HQ were Ephraim Ibeagi, Onunuma Egbuluka, Etini Akpabio, Victoria Oghani, Valentine Effiong, Chinedu Anene, Godswill Ichenwo, James John with Sophilia Obire as coordinator and Engr (Dr) Aderonke Dahunsi as spokesperson for the team.
Ramon Akewesula, Blessing Ochijie, Zobari Obaro, Paul Eneberi and John Udofia represented Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Calabar and Akwa Ibom regions respectively.
The competition was a worthwhile experience, and indeed another feather added to the cap of the Customer Service Team as they took the Customer Service Week to yet another level with the competition.
