The ‘Creativity Challenge’ organized by Innovative4Africa to promote innovation by individuals & businesses in Africa and beyond, was flagged off yesterday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
Historically, this was the maiden edition of the discovery program, hence the request for a reputable company like PHED to be the lead sponsor.
This is not the first neither will it be the last time that the present Management under the leadership of Dr. Henry O Ajagbawa FCA, has demonstrated the company’s commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility in the region.
The MD/CEO, who is widely known as a born innovator, had his brief speech delivered by the Corporate Social Responsibility Officer, Chioma Aninwe
Speaking on behalf of the MD/ CEO with all humility, Aninwe said the sponsorship request was too realistic to be turned down because the value creation of the Creativity Challenge directly aligns with Management’s new vision to be the No 1 Electricity Distribution Company in Nigeria through innovation in all spheres of our business.
She continued by disclosing that this is a life-changing opportunity and a day of history.
The CSR Officer encouraged the participants to leverage on the platform created by Innovative4Africa to harness the huge potential of the abundant human and natural resources in the oil-rich region to bring innovation to life.
Aninwe also said the company’s direct involvement in the sponsorship, is a clear indication of our continuous commitment to empower the future of inhabitants in its franchise area.
She further revealed that the Executive Management has too much confidence in the short and long-term results of the Creativity Challenge and firmly concluded that PHED will continue to support such laudable initiatives with direct impact on the lives of indigenes in the region
The Head Admin, Ngozi Koroye, unveiled the official Logo which signaled the flag- off with the Zonal Head, Everest Opara and Edise Ekong in attendance.
In response, the Chief Operating Officer of Innovate4Africa, Cynthia Isang, expressed her profound gratitude to the Management for the sponsorship irrespective of the economic shock of the covid-19.
“This goodwill by the Ajagbawa led Management has implanted a very positive image of PHED in our hearts in years to come”, she was quoted as saying.
A very belated Isang was in a non-stop mood as she heaped accolades on the MD/CEO for his vision to identify with the potentials of the initiative when other corporate bodies were playing hide and seek.
Finally, the COO explained the modalities for the emergence of winners in the Creativity Challenge revealing that the grand finale would hold in March 2021.
Some dignitaries who graced the launch include; Mrs. Ebizi Brown, Technical Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa State on Public-Private Partnership, Mrs. Funkazi Koroye Crooks, Technical Adviser to the Governor on International Development and Liason, Chief Samson Poripo, The Ebitariowei Of Tarakiri Kingdom.
