The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) Plc in line with its Health, Safety and Environment (HSE/ESG) policy, and its objective to ensure that it takes environmental issues beyond its impact on the environment, but considers how they affect the social, psychological, emotional, physical and economic wellbeing of its employees has responded to the flooding in Bayelsa State by supporting its staff members in Bayelsa region financially.
In response to the ravaging flood in its Bayelsa region, the attendant impact on the livelihood of PHED employees and the critical safety situation across our franchise area, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company, Dr Benson Uwheru has approved the sum of fifty-thousand naira only foreach staff in its Bayelsa region as palliative.
According to the MD/CEO of the company, Dr Benson Uwheru, management thought it expedient at a time like this for the company to demonstrate, beyond rhetorics, that its employees are the most important elements in its operations, and approved some money as palliative to support them.
Speaking further, he noted that due to the historic flooding in Bayelsa state, the state has been cut off from the world, making it impossible for men and materials to enter or leave the state, consequently leading to scarcity of resources and exorbitant cost of living that has affected its workforce in state. He emphasized on how imperative it is to support them at this critical time.
