The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) has debunked rumours circulating in the public that the company has retrenched over one hundred of its employees, instead, the company states categorically that not even a single staff has been retrenched.
In a statement signed by the Spokesman of the company, Mr. John Anonyai, he declared that the company has not contemplated any such plan, rather the Managing Director/CEO of the company, Dr. Benson Uwheru has consistently assured and reassured employees of PHED that they have no reason to worry about anything, rather, they should strive to contribute their best on the job to ensure the success of the company.
According to him, the MD/CEO has at every opportunity delivered messages of encouragement and reassurance to PHED employees, and maintained that he has seen the profile of most members of staff in the company, noting that they are capable and eminently qualified and could be rated among the best any organization could wish to have in its team.
The MD/CEO, Dr. Benson Uwheru also recently had engagements with the executives of leading labour unions in the electricity industry where they applauded him for his leadership style, the initiatives he has taken in steering the affairs of the company and the successes recorded by him within the short period he assumed office as the MD/CEO of the company.
The Union Executives assured him that with the testimonies they have heard from their members, they are happy and are ready to collaborate with him to ensure he succeeds, noting that his success will be good for PHED and members of their Unions whom they serve as a pressure group.
